About cleaning and sealing your deck
Posted (Admin) on April-3-2008

Cleaning the decks is taken up annually instead of a regular basis by many people across the world. Some of them apply the pressure washer system that would damage the woods. Most of these people who apply such tactics do not know the damaging affect of the method they use. Good news is that deck cleaning has become much easier now.

Instead of the traditional deck cleaners you will now use the oxygen bleach and a special epoxy sealer. However in selection of your deck cleaner you have to take into consideration the type of deck you have. Either you have the traditional treated lumber deck or you have the modern cedar deck. In addition you will also be concerned with the selection of the ideal sealers for your deck.

Cleaning with oxygen bleach will be safer and better to maintain the long life span of your wooden deck. Wooden decks like any other furniture or part of your house will get dirty with passage of time. Sometimes mildew would grow on it.

Ultra violet rays emanating from the Sun damage the wood decks by first breaking down the sealers and then beginning to damage the wood fiber soon. Use of a pressure washer in such case may spell havoc with your deck. You may be delighted thinking that you have removed the wood stains for good but you will be equally disheartened when you will find that the wash is taking away parts of your damaged wooden deck as well.
