Mesothelioma diagnosis requires an expert!

After enjoying life without any symptoms, the person who has had earlier asbestos exposure succumbs to the mesothelioma cancer in later life. Though the poor fellow may not even remember when he was exposed to asbestos but the fine strands of them have already done their work. Why the prognosis of mesothelioma is so poor is that the cancer takes a long time to establish the diagnosis. In the initial stages it is often mistaken for other chest conditions like pneumonia. That’s why though the onset is very slow of mesothelioma symptoms; the long term survival rate is poor as per the statistical data.

Basically the symptoms of lung cancer of this type are so confusing that even oncologists would fail to recognize them on first visit. Also it is a very rare cancer, the fact that delays the diagnosis further. So, reaching to the best possible doctor who can differentiate between all the possible differential diagnoses of the lung cancer is imperative. Consult your friends and colleagues who can guide you to good doctors in the first place, so that it is not difficult henceforth to diagnose the condition properly and start the intervention right away.

Apart from history of asbestos exposure what is important is a biopsy that will help for a definitive mesothelioma diagnosis. Once the diagnosis is established, then patient and doctors can tackle the issue at hand with all the parameters in picture. Thereafter, it is also easy to stage the disease and decide the line of treatment depending upon the extent of spread the cancer has reached.
